The Lodge @ Upper Gelli. We’re back to reality with a bump! Thank you so much for such a lovely stay at Upper Gelli Lodge last week. It’s an absolute idyll – so tranquil and restorative. You’ve thought of absolutely everything so it feels like a real home from home. We’ve enjoyed exploring a little bit of the area which neither of us knew, but mostly it was just perfect chilling out on the super comfy sofa, watching a movie, lighting the wood burner, exploring the country lanes, and cooking up treats from our Derwen Farm Shop purchases! The welcome basket was just perfect – such a lovely touch, and with the best Bara brith I’ve ever tasted ( and I lived in North Wales for 5 years!!). It was wonderful being there at the turn of the season – still some warmth in the sun, but the autumnal wildlife starting to come into its own. Was it a red kite we saw gliding and hovering in the valley each day? We certainly heard the owls! And met a friendly robin who’d stop by when we were in the hot tub! Thank you especially for getting the Lodge ready with relatively short notice – we’d not quite decided where our holiday would take us, but Upper Gelli is a gem of a find.
